General Dallaire, a highly decorated Canadian national who served as the Commander of the UN mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR), was medically released from the Canadian Armed Forces in April 2000 due to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The Rwanda genocide occurred under his watch - an experience the General has never forgotten and to which he has dedicated his life to play his role in projecting the need for timely responses to Conflicts all over the world. General Dallaire is a member to a number of very prestigious institutions which include the Canadian Forces Advisory Council and holds doctorates from several universities. He is the author of the book "Shake Hands With The Devil", an account of his experience as the Force Commander during the Rwandan genocide.
