Henri ‘Bossie’ Boshoff joined ISS in Pretoria in 2002 as a military analyst with the African Security Analysis Programme to work specifically on the Great Lakes Region. In April 2009 he was promoted to head of the Peace Missions Programme which included running the Norwegian-funded Training for Peace project. In this role he provided training to hundreds of soldiers, police officers and civilians deployed on peace missions in Africa and beyond. Bossie presented numerous papers at conferences and seminars and was a regular commentator on local and international radio and television. He frequently lectured on security issues and published, edited and contributed to a large number of journals, books and other publications. While at ISS, Bossie earned an international reputation in his field and travelled tirelessly on behalf of ISS.
Bossie passed away on 25 April 2011.
